Ireland in the buff!
One of the perks of living in this era is easy access to unprecedented high-resolution celestial imagery. If you're not visiting NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), regularly, if not daily, then you're really missing out on an epically privileged perspective. Ditto for the EO's Image of the Day (IOTD).
It's ironic that of all of the wickedly cool pictures I've seen there, I'm inclined to post about them because of something as prosaic as a picture of Ireland.
But NASA's Aqua satellite recently (20101011) happened to catch Ireland .. au naturel, as they say. I.e. without any cloud cover whatsoever. It's a gorgeous picture of the island (geoporn?), and for some reason it just struck me as a neat example of how technology can capture the unpredictable intersection between mundane and inspiring.
